DEADLINE: Friday September 14th, 2018, 5:00pm EST
The 2018-19 curriculum focuses on interpretation of VMFA’s collection and tour development. Teens attend weekly sessions which include lectures exploring the various approaches to museum interpretation and research, and participate in workshops dedicated to writing content and recording audio for VMFA’s new audio tour platform, a component of the mobile-responsive VMFA website. Working together, the students will research, write, and record an original audio tour of objects found in VMFA’s collection specifically designed to appeal to teen visitors. Once developed, the audio tour will be made freely available to the public; accessible via VMFA’s website, and on any device that connects to the internet.
Who is eligible to apply? Virginia teens in grades 8-12 are eligible to apply for the highly-competitive program. Up to 25 teens will be selected to participate based upon their artistic merit, writing ability, teacher recommendations, regional demographics and leadership qualifications.
