Frank Buffalo Hyde

  • (b. 1974) Given name, Buffalo Hyde.
  • Born in Santa Fe, NM but grew up mostly in central New York state on his mother’s Onondaga* reservation.
  • Son of Nez Perce* sculptor, Doug Hyde.
  • As a result of his father's exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam, Hyde was born without part of one arm and one leg.
  • Dabbled with music and writing.
  • Studied at the Santa Fe Art Institute and the Institute of American Indian Arts.
  • Began exhibiting professionally at age 18; has shown nationally/internationally.
  • Has been the artist-in-residence at the Museum of Contemporary Native Arts in Santa Fe - and at the University of Virginia’s Kluge-Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection.
