  4. The deadline for Scholastic entries is December 13th. Go HERE to learn more about the program and how to prepare. 
  5. With the Weebly app, you can easily upload photos right from your phone! This is really helpful for process pictures.
MONDAY: see HW
  • Daily drawing - apply lessons learned with TVA, even when not drawing a figure...!!!
  • Awareness post/AS #3 DUE; explain next steps
  • Mini-process critique... Where are you in the process - where do you need to be? What are we looking for from this project?  How can you bring your work to a conclusion and show growth? Are you pushing yourself to the edge of your abilities (risk taking = growth)? How will this process prepare you for the self-portrait?
  • Studio day
    • PLEASE NOTE: Drawings must be ready for critique by the start of class NEXT WEDNESDAY. The self-assessment must be turned in by the end of the day.
    • If you are toning your paper today, you will spend the rest of class practicing with the select medium and working on your website; you must use the entire class period on Wed. to draw on the toned paper. BUT....IS TONING ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY?
    • If you are not toning your paper, you should take some time to practice with the select medium - but get started with final drawing ASAP.

HOMEWORK:​ In order to meet the project deadline, you will want to find time to work on the Old Master drawing on your own. Remember to take photos each day and to post your progress as PROCESS posts with dates and commentary. 
  • DUE  MONDAY = WS/AWARENESS/AS #3 (Please read/re-read the directions carefully... have your written your 3 questions?)
  • ONGOING = Review the information about the Italian Renaissance and the Old Masters as contained in Artist Spotlight entries, the Projects page,  and HERE. Bolster your notes as necessary & use these resources to complete the vocabulary list to be prepared for the open notes quiz on Nov. 5th. ​
  • DUE WEDNESDAY = Mural design with color and annotations as needed
  • DUE FRIDAY = Read/sign the open-notes honor pledge on Quia
  • DUE Nov. 5 = AS #4 (SB); choose one of the old masters presented as an AWARENESS post on a classmate's blog and complete that entry in your sketchbook.

SOME IMPORTANT INFO:
  1. In preparation for completing SB Q1, due Friday, review the 6 required categories carefully and make sure that your work represents each as assigned. Remember, while you can (and should) reflect on your work at any time, only one REFLECTION is officially due at the end of each quarter. This is one entry that you really should complete at the last minute so that it can be inclusive of the learning, experiences, SOL, and AHoM accomplished to date. Don't forget about AS #3 AND IF YOU NEED MORE TIME, TAKE UNTIL OCT. 29TH.
  2. ​Remember that in-class Daily Drawings have been suspended in order to save time for working with Tommy, so keep up with those on your own. USE WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN LEARNING WITH TOMMY AS YOU LOOK/SEE/DRAW!!! 
  3. ALSO... It's time to start thinking about Scholastic entries. The deadline is December 13th but preparations should start now. Go HERE to understand what those preparations entail.

PLEASE USE TIME @ LUNCH AS YOU CAN TO MAKE PROGRESS ON YOUR OLD MASTER DRAWING, SINCE CLASS TIME FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS WILL BE USED FOR FIGURE DRAWING INSTEAD. TAKE PHOTOS EVERY TIME YOU WORK, IN ORDER TO HAVE EVIDENCE OF PROGRESS TO BE POSTED ON YOUR WEBSITE.
Daily Drawings will be suspended this week in order to save time for working with the guest artist - do those drawings on your own!

It is ESSENTIAL that you can zoom in to clearly see the individual marks (you need to copy these in all their detail, so the type, quality, and clarity of mark is critical).
