What will you exhibit for Youth Art Month?
This annual exhibit is meant to highlight the work of EACH art student while ALSO illustrating the SCOPE of the OVERALL art program @ Maggie Walker. Select something that you've done THIS year (in class or in your sketchbook) that represents the Art 3 curriculum. Your choice must be made, your work must be matted/ready to hang and your label info. must be submitted by February 22nd (NEXT Friday).
MONDAY:
WEDNESDAY: If you are in the women's dressing room studio, your work will be moved before Friday because of the Maggie Walker mural project.

- Discuss YAMM (Youth Art and Music Month) event and exhibit
- Artist Spotlight #10
- Review homework & deadlines - reminder that sketchbook work should be done on a regular basis, using the check points to keep you on track along the way!
- PAINT - REMEMBER TO DOCUMENT AND POST YOUR PROCESS AS YOU WORK!

- PAINT! Before you start:
- Review the AbEx "cheat sheet" that you were given - where did you start, where are you now, where do you need to go?
- Step back from your painting so you can take it all in and fully answer the questions above!
- REMEMBER TO DOCUMENT AND POST YOUR PROCESS AS YOU WORK!
- Individual/small group critiques - "Am I finished?" "Which way is up?" "What content have I explored through this painting?" "What is the title?"
- Consider:
- Painting the edges
- Signing your work (optional) - signature or not, write your name on a stretcher bar and indicate which way is "up"

FRIDAY:
- PAINT (quick, just a few last-minute things). There is no more in-class painting time after today; the final critique is next Wed. (because next Mon./Tues. are EVEN/Early release days) so you can work on your own if needed. DON'T OVER-PAINT.
- Clean up!!! Wash brushes, put away paint, etc.

- (SB) 1st CURIOSITY - Global Focus - what can you learn from the ways that non-western cultures have used sculpture?
- (SB) PLAY should happen weekly - review ALL PLAY pages from the start of the year.... what's next?
- (WS) PROCESS post(s); include your AbEx practice paintings! & tag your post as "PROCESS" category
- DUE March 1 = (WS) EXPERIENCE/Lunchtime Lecture

- (SB) Daily Drawing should always be happening
- (SB) PLANNING/sculpture - continued, this will be ONGOING throughout the duration of the project but as you develop your own ideas, your PLANNING pages will be specific to your work.
- (SB) 2nd CURIOSITY - art-related free choice (but related to sculpture); use this opportunity to further investigate media, methods, and artists who can help you with YOUR sculpture.
- (SB) PLAY should happen weekly - review ALL PLAY pages from the start of the year.... think about what you are doing with sculpture as.... in what other directions can you take these experimentations?
- (WS) GALLERY - Photograph all artwork & add to your online gallery with title, date, medium, and measurements. These photos must be high quality/resolution with appropriate cropping/editing. PLEASE NOTE THAT YOU MUST BE PROACTIVE HERE... YOU WILL LEARN TO USE THE CLASS CAMERA BUT YOU CAN ALSO GET STARTED ON YOUR OWN.

- March 15 = entry form for Asian-American Society Art Competition (the actual art deadline is March 29th)(see info. for details)
- March 18 = Doodle for Google

- WEDNESDAY = NAHS meeting/INDUCTION @ 11:45 am in the Black Box (Art Club members are invited and highly encouraged to attend); Water Fountain Gallery artwork is DUE today!
- WEDNESDAY = Parent/Teacher conferences
- Feb. 18/19 = EVEN DAYS/Early release for students
- Feb. 20 = Lunchtime Lecture
- Feb. 22 = Colossal Clean-Up; an annual NAHS tradition. All Art Club and NAHS members - and those who want to be - should attend. Community service hours are available for those who participate for the full 4 hours.
- Feb. 27 = Art Club meeting @ 11:45am
- March 1 = Interim for Q3
- March 7 = YAMM celebration event and exhibit, 6 - 9 pm
- March 9 = Figure Drawing Friday!
