(37) Week of May 27th

REMEMBER: There is NO school on Monday, no studio time on Wednesday, and Friday is the LAST studio day... but the official project due date is NEXT Monday, June 3rd. Plan your time accordingly, come in during lunch, and take your project home if needed.

MONDAY: holiday/no school
 
WEDNESDAY: Modified schedule/awards ceremony (25 minute classes)
  • Exam review - completed EXAM PREP. assignment is DUE, including completion of the the Quia Post-Test
  • Take Painting & Mixed Media self-evaluation rubric home for review, come with questions on Friday.

FRIDAY: SOL schedule/long period 7 
  • Q&A re: Painting & Mixed Media self-evaluation rubric
  • LAST STUDIO DAY. If you are not done by today, you will have to take your work home and bring it back, finished, on June 3rd.

PROJECT DEADLINES: ​
  • June 3rd = Painting & Mixed Media project + Part A. of self-evaluation rubric 
  • June 5th = Completed Painting & Mixed Media self-evaluation rubric

HOMEWORK DEADLINES:​ ​
  • DUE WEDNESDAY = Exam Prep. assignment, including completion of Quia Post-Test
  • DUE June 5 = Quiz #4; it is open notes and you may take it  @ school or @ home. Please abide by the Honor Pledge you signed at the start of the year.
  • TAKE PORTFOLIO HOME NO LATER THAN JUNE 7TH (clean out the class drawer and your tray, collect any other work that is in the room). Use the work contained in the your portfolio as review your accomplishments and exam review.

  • Studio day 3 of 6 - come on in, get to work!

FRIDAY: 
  • TBD - but do not count on this as a studio day!
  • (possibilities: daily drawings, sort/organize figure drawings, take ceramics from library/take photos, continue PLANNING pages, work on artist statements, etc.)

PROJECT DEADLINES: ​
  • May 30 = LAST STUDIO DAY for Mixed Media project (critiques start on the Monday after). PLEASE NOTE: the SOL schedule, which starts on May 20th, will shorten classes, except for the extended class on Friday, May 24th.

HOMEWORK DEADLINES:​ 
  • WEEKLY - keep working on your sketchbook assignment:
    • OBSERVATION - are you drawing "daily"?
    • CURIOSITY - One of the two, 2-page spreads should be FINISHED - start the 2nd one!
    • PLANNING -  Continue #7 - start the rest
    • ART HISTORY - N/A
    • PLAY - you should have at least 6
    • EXPERIENCE - N/A
    • REFLECTION - be thinking about it.... review the SOL, AHoM, AND the Artist Process to be aware of what and how you are learning and growing.

MONDAY: 
  • Review Artist Spotlights #15 & #16 - focus on how this info. can be applied to your work (don't forget all the others!).
  • Collages are due today (in whatever form they have taken - digital, all glued, separate pieces, etc.). This is because:
    • TODAY is the official start date;  everyone MUST BE working on some aspect of the final product or you will run out of time.
    • NOTE: Because there are limited projectors, you may need to come in at other times in order to do that work; as you wait for the projector, use your time wisely by working through the PLANNING pages and completing any other preparatory work that can be done. 

WEDNESDAY: 
  • Studio day 1 of 6 - come on in, get to work!

FRIDAY: 
  • SB Check - please see HW for what should be in your SB thus far.

PROJECT DEADLINES: ​
  • DUE MONDAY= finished collage 
  • May 30 = LAST STUDIO DAY for Mixed Media project (critiques start on Monday)

HOMEWORK DEADLINES:​ 
  • ​DUE FRIDAY = SB CHECK. We have not done a formal SB CHECK in some time, so we WILL do so on Friday. Please check to see that you are up to date with the following:
    • OBSERVATION - are you drawing "daily"?
    • CURIOSITY - One of the two, 2-page spreads should be STARTED if not complete... remember you have one more to do before the due date, so use your time wisely....  
    • PLANNING -  #1 -  #6 COMPLETE; #7 started (keep going as you work) 
    • ART HISTORY - Artist Spotlights #15 - #16
    • PLAY - you should have 4 - 5
    • EXPERIENCE - Try-me Gallery, Visual Arts Center/"The Color of NO," and Lunchtime Lecture/John Freyer (5/2/19) 
    • THE GOOD NEWS HERE IS THAT MOST OF THE ASSIGNMENT WILL BE DONE BY NOW - YOU JUST HAVE TO FILL IN SOME BLANKS BEFORE THE DUE DATE!!!!!
