Art 1/Weekly Agenda:

What are we doing this week?
Am I prepared for class?
Did I do my homework?
Do we have a quiz this week?
What deadlines do I need to plan for?
How should I dress for class today?
When is the next NAHS/Art Club meeting?
When is the next Lunchtime Lecture?
Are there any special events coming up?
Is there a change in the schedule?
What opportunities can I take advantage of?
In what other ways can I prepare to do my best?

Check the MLWGS Calendar!

  • DUE = drawing based on written description
  • Review select vocab. from handouts received last class
  • Continue Drawing Bootcamp (where we start/end today depends on how far we got last class)
  • Prepare for Figure Drawing Friday!

FRIDAY: Remember, this is an ALL CLASS day - also, Freshmen have an assembly during 5th period
  • Figure Drawing Friday!

HOMEWORK is designed to: 1) allow for exploration, practice, and application of class content, 2) encourage independent work, time management, and efficiency of work flow, 3) fit within the weekly homework time allotted for this class. Keep these things in mind as you work. Use of a timer is one way to stay on task and to monitor your work time. Please note that your individual needs and work process may result in spending more or less than the suggested average time. Please ask for help as needed.
  • NOTE: You will be without your sketchbook for up to a week.... but, even without it you can:
    • Complete daily drawings on separate paper, to be added to SB #2
    • Work on Bootcamp exercises: make sure Faces/Vase and upside down drawings are as correct, accurate, and complete as possible - don't wait for the teacher to point out inaccuracies - practice your perception skills (please bring your folder back to class each day - don't forget)
  • DUE WED./THURSDAY = completed drawing based on the description you were given on Mon./Tuesday
  • DUE EVERY MONDAY/TUESDAY = Check the website at the start of each week; update your agenda accordingly and complete any required preparatory work
  • DUE PERIODICALLY = Check Powerschool; it is your responsibility to follow up with make up/late work, questions, or discrepancies in a timely manner

  • CHECK THE SCHOOL CALENDAR FOR A COMPREHENSIVE LIST OF EVENTS AND DETAILS
HEY! Did you get all the way to bottom of this agenda? You've read it, updated your calendar as needed, and are prepared for the week ahead and beyond? COOL.

Here's a challenge to get you fully prepped for this week:
  1. Watch the video, considering carefully the point of the exercise (what IS the point?!)
  2. Try it for yourself; select an object that stands vertically, in-the-round, with lot of detail (not a phone, ruler, pencil, etc.)(could be a self-portrait!)
  3. Draw this object  from direct, careful observation using only one line. DO NOT CHEAT. You'll defeat the whole point of the exercise = waste of time. Keep your pen/pencil on the paper at all times (do not judge your work for it's perfection or lack thereof - it WILL be a "good drawing" IF you followed the directions)
  4. Bring your drawing to class on Monday/Tuesday (labeled with name/date/class code)
