3/26/2018

 

1) QUIZ #3, open notes, Wed./Thurs.
2) UN-Lock-in forms DUE Friday
3) Friday = last day before break!

MONDAY/TUESDAY:
  • Warm up: 10 min.
    • 1) Take out your value scale worksheet, paying close attention to the linear/pen and ink value scales. 2)  Look at the still life object at your table, paying close attention to the effects of the direct light source.  3) Draw the object lightly with pencil, then add a range of linear/pen and ink values to differentiate between the highlights, mid-tones, shadow edges, and cast shadows that you observe. YOUR GOAL: A drawing that shows the accurate illusion of form through value vs. outline ​
  • Class activities:​
    • Discuss Masaccio
    • Work on cartoons:
      • Studio day 3 of 4
      • GOAL: Inking 1/2 done (pencil lines will be erased after fully inking) 
      • Before inking, make sure to have a plan re: light source & placement/type of values
        • DON'T FORGET LINE WEIGHT
        • APPLY VALUES THOUGHTFULLY
    • If you have extra time:
      • Work on SB #5 (due Friday)]
      • SPRING CLEANING - fill portfolios

WEDNESDAY/ THURSDAY (Thurs. is modified EVEN):
  • Warm up: 10 min.  
    • Gather notes for quiz
  • Class activities:​
    • QUIZ (as soon as you are done, go back to the room)
    • Work on cartoons:
      • Studio day 4 of 4 (no more class time after today)(EVEN day classes also have Friday)
      • GOAL: Inking done (pencil lines will be erased after fully inking)(if you are not done, see HOMEWORK)
        • DON'T FORGET LINE WEIGHT
        • APPLY VALUES THOUGHTFULLY
    • If you have extra time:
      • Work on SB #5 (due Friday)
      • SPRING CLEANING - fill portfolios

​FRIDAY (also modified EVEN): 
  • Continue studio work from yesterday - finish cartoons
  • If you have extra time, use it to put finishing touches on SB #5 (due today)

HOMEWORK is designed to: 1) allow for exploration, practice, preparation, and application of class content, 2) encourage independent work, time management, and efficiency of work flow (don't procrastinate!), 3) fit within the weekly homework time allotted for this class. Keep these things in mind as you work. Use of a timer is one way to stay on task and to monitor your work time. Please note that your individual needs and work process may result in spending more or less than the suggested average time. Ask for help/use extended lunch as needed; communicate extension requests at least 3-days before a deadline.​​​
  • DUE FRIDAY: IMPORTANT!!!! The school calendar has been changed and Friday is an EVEN day. 3rd period, you can still turn your sketchbook and cartoon in on Friday but you have to remember to do so in order to avoid losing late points. 
    • ​Cartoon​ (if you need additional time to finish, you can take it home or work on it @ lunch through April 10th)
    • SB #5 (review your work thoroughly; make adjustments, completions, or corrections, in order to show your best work/earn the best grade)
      • EXTRA CREDIT can be earned for extending the  _______-a-Week series to at least a total of 12 entries 
  • DUE EVERY WEEK:
    • Check the website; update your agenda accordingly and complete any required preparatory work
    • Check your grades - follow through as needed
