MONDAY: Future Dragons will visit,10:15 - 10:45 am
TUESDAY: Future Dragons will visit, 9:30 - 10:00 am, 12:30 - 1:00 pm/1:00 - 1:30 pm​
  • Warm up: 10 min.
    • 1) Take out your value scale worksheet, paying close attention to the achromatic and monochromatic value scales. 2)  Look at the still life object at your table, paying close attention to the effects of the direct light source. 3) Draw the object lightly with pencil, then add a range of either achromatic OR monochromatic values to differentiate between the highlights, mid-tones, shadow edges, and cast shadows that you observe. YOUR GOAL: A drawing that shows the accurate illusion of form through value vs. outline 
  • Class activities:​
    • Finish introduction to VALUE - pen and ink techniques/last 2 value scales (if you are not done with the first 3, then find a time to finish them by the end of the week)
    • Work on cartoons:
      • Studio day 1 of 4 (due March 30)
      • GOAL: Drawing 1/2 done (sketch lightly, lines will be erased) 
      • Before inking, make sure to have a plan re: light source & placement/type of values 
  • Linear perspective packets and figure-tracings must be turned in TODAY
  • Value scales are due FRIDAY

WEDNESDAY: SNOW DAY

THURSDAY: modified schedule/2-hour delay (Future Dragons will visit)
FRIDAY: now an ODD day: Future Dragons will visit,10:15 - 10:45 am​
  • Warm up: 10 min.
    • ​Finish value scales (DUE TODAY)
  • Class activities:​
    • Clarify all details re: SB #5 (due next Friday), including the 2-Page Spread and Create Page check-lists/reflections
    • Work on cartoons:
      • Studio day 2 of 4 (due March 30)
      • GOAL: Drawing done  (barring details and final adjustments) - if you have not started inking today, you MUST be ready to do so by next Mon./Tues.)
      • Before inking, make sure to have a plan re: light source & placement/type of values 
  • Make corrections to linear perspective packets and figure-tracings as needed (DUE TODAY)

​HOMEWORK is designed to: 1) allow for exploration, practice, preparation, and application of class content, 2) encourage independent work, time management, and efficiency of work flow (don't procrastinate!), 3) fit within the weekly homework time allotted for this class. Keep these things in mind as you work. Use of a timer is one way to stay on task and to monitor your work time. Please note that your individual needs and work process may result in spending more or less than the suggested average time. Ask for help/use extended lunch as needed; communicate extension requests at least 3-days before a deadline.​​​
  • DUE MON./TUES. = linear perspective packets and figure-tracings 
  • DUE THURSDAY/FRIDAY = Value scales 
  • DUE March 30TH:  IMPORTANT!!!! The school calendar has been changed and now March 30th is an EVEN day. 3rd period, you can still turn your sketchbook and cartoon in on Friday but you have to remember to do so in order to avoid losing late points.

    • SB #5 (review your work thoroughly; make adjustments, completions, or corrections, in order to show your best work/earn the best grade)
    • EXTRA CREDIT can be earned for extending the  _______-a-Week series to at least a total of 12 entries 
  • DUE EVERY WEEK:
    • Check the website; update your agenda accordingly and complete any required preparatory work
    • Check your grades - follow through as needed
