HOMEWORK is designed to: 1) allow for exploration, practice, preparation, and application of class content, 2) encourage independent work, time management, and efficiency of work flow (don't procrastinate!), 3) fit within the weekly homework time allotted for this class. Keep these things in mind as you work. Use of a timer is one way to stay on task and to monitor your work time. Please note that your individual needs and work process may result in spending more or less than the suggested average time. Ask for help/use extended lunch as needed; communicate extension requests at least 3-days before a deadline.
HAPPENINGS:
- Warm up: 10 min.
- Daily drawing: Using either one or two point linear perspective, draw an open box - with something inside.
- Turn in practice packets if you worked on them over the weekend
- Class activities:
- Review figure drawing & linear perspective - things to keep in mind to avoid the mistakes that are most often made
- Work on cartoons - make as much progress as possible so that Kirk has something on which to offer feedback (next class)
- DO NOT FORGET: 1) All the drawing and composition skills learned to date; 2) Wally Wood's suggestions for successful panels; 3) To use the linear perspective packet and figure-tracings as references when drawing/to help you solve problems independently; 4) The library books on your tables; and 5) The many resources provided to you on the Projects page(s), like.... - Review VALUE as it will apply to your cartoons (will practice next week)
- Turn in corrected linear perspective packets and figure-tracings (work on corrections in class if you need help)
- Guest artist, Kirk O'Brien (last visit)
- Finalize panel layout
- Drawing as much as possible; take suggestions from Kirk as needed
