HOMEWORK is designed to: 1) allow for exploration, practice, preparation, and application of class content, 2) encourage independent work, time management, and efficiency of work flow (don't procrastinate!), 3) fit within the weekly homework time allotted for this class. Keep these things in mind as you work. Use of a timer is one way to stay on task and to monitor your work time. Please note that your individual needs and work process may result in spending more or less than the suggested average time. Ask for help/use extended lunch as needed; communicate extension requests at least 3-days before a deadline.
HAPPENINGS:

- Linear perspective packet (due Friday, take home if necessary)
- If you are done, work on your value scales (the top 3 only); check your technique, refine as needed; squint to make sure that each value is gradual but distinct
- If you are done that as well, then work on your cartoon drafts and/or SB #5

- Attach label to your YAMM exhibit selection
- Review linear perspective... What will you do with this skill? How can you apply it to your cartoon - to your figure drawings - to anything else that you do?
- Review figure drawing/finish figure tracings (also due Friday)... What will you do with this skill? Consider how these tracings can act as reference images for your cartoon.
- Work on cartoon drafts and character development (draw them in multiple positions that you can tell your story in the most effective way.
- Don't forget the resources that have been provided to you on the Projects page, like How to Draw a Cartoon Body
- Warm up: 10 min.
- Get ready to work with Kirk; put the finishing touches on your multiple drafts and character sketches
- Class activities:
- NOTE: Thursday's class is slightly longer to allow for course selection
- Guest artist, Kirk O'Brien - finalize story, decided on strip or book page format, composition of each panel & grouping of panels, etc.; get as much drawn as you can (Kirk will be back next week to explain inking)

- Intro. Artist Spotlight #12 (this is the last one for SB #5)(have it complete by NEXT Wednesday/Thursday, for discussion)
- Discuss Artist Spotlight #11; review answers and make connections to figure drawing (cartooning), linear perspective, subject, composition, content, and everything else we have been doing...

- DUE WED./THURS. = at least 2 drafts of your cartoon (more is even better). Don't forget to use the 22 Helpful Hints of Storytelling AND the answers to Kirk's questions to guide your character/story development.
